In February 2024, Back in Motion’s Balnarring clinic suffered significant storm damage after water escaped from a bathroom, flooding five consulting rooms, the hallway, reception, and exercise studio. The damage was extensive, affecting not only the carpet and subfloor but also wooden floors, walls, and skirting boards.
The Squeaky Clean Team was entrusted to manage both the immediate mitigation and the structural restoration, ensuring minimal disruption to the clinic’s operations.
Phase One: Mitigation and Drying
Our priority was to dry the property quickly while allowing the clinic to continue trading. Water extraction and drying equipment, including dehumidifiers and air movers, were installed and carefully managed. Despite a power outage caused by a storm, our team worked around the clock to ensure drying resumed as soon as power was restored.
By the end of the week, the carpet and subfloor were dry, but moisture persisted in the walls and skirting boards, and the wooden floors were swollen. At this stage, structural repairs were required.
Phase Two: Structural Restoration
Over several weekends, we restored the clinic with minimal impact on its operations. Key works included:
- Replacing damaged walls and skirting boards in the consulting rooms, hallway, and communal areas.
- Installing new kitchen cabinetry, ensuring functionality.
- Sanding and repairing wooden floors throughout the property.
- Installing new carpet tiles in the consulting rooms.
By scheduling repairs outside trading hours, we kept disruptions to a minimum while delivering a comprehensive restoration.
